English Learner Resource Center  
The English Learner Resource Center is part of the Instructional Services Division and provides support for approximately 4,100 English learner students throughout the San Marcos Unified School District. The Resource Center is involved with a wide range of projects in an effort to meet the needs of students, parents, community members and district staff.

El Departamento de Adquisición de Inglés como parte de Servicios de Instrucción apoya unos 4,100 estudiantes aprendiendo inglés en el Distrito Escolar Unificado de San Marcos. El departamento está involucrado con una gran variedad de proyectos para mejor servir las necesidades de los estudiantes, padres, miembros de la comunidad y empleados del distrito.

Gabriella Gomez, Director

Gabriella Gomez began her teaching career in 1984 teaching high school, middle school and special education in Pennsylvania.  She began working in the San Marcos Unified School District in 1991 as a teacher at Alvin Dunn Elementary, Discovery Elementary, and San Marcos Elementary.  She served   eight years as an Instructional Support Specialist and Intervention Specialist.  Gabriella began her administrative role at San Marcos Elementary as an assistant principal and then served as principal of Joli Ann Leichtag Elementary for six years before coming to the district office as Director of Language Learner Resource Center.   She received her bachelors and teaching credential in both general and special education from the Pennsylvania State University and her masters from Wilkes-University.

Hugo Orozco, Teacher on Special Assignment

Hugo Orozco is a native to North San Diego County and graduated from San Marcos High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, San Diego, and a teaching credential from California State University, San Marcos. Mr. Orozco has served as an instructional aide, elementary teacher, intervention specialist.  He has been a member of the La Costa Meadows Elementary, Twin Oaks Elementary, and San Marcos Elementary teams. In addition to working with students he has facilitated teacher and parent workshops. He joined the San Marcos Unified School District in 1996.
