We believe that every student at Richland is an artist. Richland art program allows every student to experience their artistic abilities. There is no right or wrong result, only art!
Children are encouraged to experiment and explore their creative abilities. Our goal is that each student and volunteer feels good about their art experience.
Proper methods of working with art supplies.
To develop awareness of line and its many variations and possibilities.
To develop awareness of shape in our surroundings and to create an interesting composition using shapes with contrasting colors, patterns, sizes, and textures.
To develop awareness of space in artwork and the difference between positive and negative space.
To develop awareness of primary, secondary and tertiary colors.
To develop awareness of texture in our surroundings and how an object can be translated visually by artists using various techniques.
To develop awareness of “the whole picture,” and to use each element of line, color, shape, space, value and texture separately and together to create a composition.
To learn about the life and work of an artist and to create a piece of art in the style of that artist.
