San Marcos Adult School (SMAS)
San Marcos Adult School (SMAS) offers a high school diploma program and GED preparation. The program is conducted at the Twin Oaks High School campus (Room #10) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Students are encouraged to attend each evening in order to complete courses in a timely manner.
Independent StudySMAS also offers an independent study high school diploma program. Students complete coursework off campus and meet with the instructor Tuesdays or Thursdays at the San Marcos Adult School campus to turn in work, ask questions, take tests and pick up new assignments.
Each credit requires approximately 12-15 hours. A minimum of 60 academic hours and content completion required for 5 semester credits.
In-Class Study requires all academic hours and course work be completed on campus.

What is Studied?
The curriculum at SMAS has been developed according to district curriculum guidelines and the California State Content standards. Coursework satisfies the requirements for graduation. Students may graduate from San Marcos Adult School by completing all district graduation credit requirements, including a residency requirement of two (2) courses completed at SMAS.
Students are also required to pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE).
Although SMAS offers no GED testing, we will help to prepare students to take the GED.
Adults interested in attending SMAS In-Class Study High School Diploma program may register in person Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
A transcript of previously completed high school work must be presented at time of application. Enrollment is open year round.
