FINDING NEVERLAND is the Broadway musical that tells the fascinating story of how Peter became Pan. Packed with mesmerizing visuals, irresistible songs and plenty of laughs, FINDING NEVERLAND is a timeless story about the power of imagination and spectacular proof that you never really have to grow up.
Synopsis: Playwright J.M. Barrie struggles to find inspiration until he meets four young brothers and their beautiful widowed mother. Spellbound by the boys’ enchanting make-believe adventures, he sets out to write a play that will astound London theatergoers. With a little bit of pixie dust and a lot of faith, Barrie takes this monumental leap, leaving his old world behind for Neverland where nothing is impossible and the wonder of childhood lasts forever. The magic of Barrie’s classic tale springs spectacularly to life in this heartwarming theatrical event.
FINDING NEVERLAND is “far and away the best musical of the year!” (NPR), “a celebration of imagination,” (Associated Press), and “Breathtaking, Pixie-dusted perfection” (Entertainment Weekly).
FINDING NEVERLAND combines theatrical storytelling with musical song. This theater experience is for ALL (students and adults) who have ever had a wish and a dream. We would like your family and anyone you would like to invite, to share this experience.
The performance will be at the San Diego Civic Theater, in Downtown San Diego. The musical lasts about 2 hours with an intermission. You will be responsible to transport your own child/group and chaperone, as this will be an independent event and not associated with the school as a field trip.
Though many months away, more details will follow quickly with information to order your tickets soon!
We are thrilled to have a performance like this come our way to connect our children to writing and storytelling with theater and the arts. This will be a fun production that is familiar to the children, that applies what they already know, while broadening their experience with something new outside of school. It is our hope that seeing this performance continues to inspire the playful and imaginative nature of our young elementary school audience. When you pair the wonder of theatre with the joy and excitement of music, you allow all ages to expand their imaginations, develop appreciation for artistic expression, learn about history and humanities, and become exposed to the endless possibilities of thought. A musical experience, like FINDING NEVELAND, continues to value the importance of creative storytelling in intellectual development, and illustrate, yet another way, for our children to discover the artistic nature of language. Regardless of what paths our students choose in life, the skills they develop and learn through reading and experiencing stories, of all kinds, can last a lifetime.
There is nothing more magical to see the lights go down and feel the anticipation when the theater curtains open. When classic literature, like FINDING NEVERLAND is adapted into a musical such as this, you will discover the power and toe-tapping fun of a story brought to extraordinary life. All of us are excited to attend with our families, and hope you will join us.
