Services provided by SMUSD School Social Workers include:

  • Short term therapy for students
  • Group therapy sessions for students on campus
  • Crisis intervention
  • Substance abuse intervention and education
  • Mental health training and education for students and staff
  • Linkage and referral to community programs and resources Collaboration with law enforcement and child and family services

SMUSD School Social Workers

School Social Workers are trained in providing mental health interventions and counseling to students at all grade levels. School Social Workers fill a unique role in the school setting as they are specially trained to address student needs with a collaborative multi-disciplinary approach. School Social Workers work with school administration, instructional staff, and community resources to provide services that promote a positive environment for students at school, at home, and in the community. SMUSD School Social Workers welcome referrals from parents, teachers, and administrators.
