Project Overview: Carrillo Elementary School

The Carrillo Elementary School New Classroom Building project developed around a projected enrollment need for the 2014-15 school year. After further review of historical patterns and anticipated growth beyond the 2014-15 school year, Staff recommended to the Board that five (5) classrooms be constructed as ;permanent construction instead of installing one temporary portable building. This review process was a direct result of one of the top priorities of Prop K, which included reducing the number of temporary portable classrooms throughout the District. In conjunction with the Classroom Building project, some additional facilities requirements are being met: re-construct existing ball walls and play apparatuses that were removed with the location of the new building or no longer meet the District's safety standards; repair the concrete where accessible Paths of Travel as required by the Division of the State Architect.
