Pre-Apprenticeship

San Marcos High School proudly offers a DAS Registered Pre-Apprenticeship program, an exceptional opportunity for students to jumpstart their careers while still in high school. This program is designed to allow students to begin earning their hours towards full certification as an Apprentice, providing a significant advantage as they transition from high school to the workforce.

Students enrolled in our Pre-Apprenticeship program will complete 180 hours of hands-on experience and receive preferred registration in a Registered Apprenticeship program. This head start is invaluable, enabling students to gain practical skills and knowledge that will serve as the foundation for their future careers.

Our strong relationship with the Associated General Contractors Union (AGC) has been instrumental in developing this program. The collaboration ensures that our curriculum is aligned with industry standards and meets the needs of employers. This partnership guarantees that students receive the most relevant and up-to-date training, making them highly competitive candidates for apprenticeship positions.

Pre-apprenticeship programs, like ours, are a set of strategies designed to prepare individuals for entry into Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAP) or other job opportunities. While these programs can vary in their specific elements, their core purpose is to place individuals on a pathway to employability through a RAP. Our program is meticulously structured to ensure that students are not only ready to enter a registered apprenticeship but are also equipped with the skills and confidence to excel in their chosen fields.

We take immense pride in our Pre-Apprenticeship program because it opens doors for our students to enter directly into paid registered apprenticeship programs upon graduation. This seamless transition from high school to the workforce sets them on the path to a bright and prosperous future. Our students leave San Marcos High School with a clear direction, valuable experience, and the credentials to succeed in the competitive job market.
