  • All substitute and teaching permit applications must be submitted directly through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) website. SMUSD does not process or accept permit applications. Please visit the CTC website at the link below and follow the application instructions provided:

    California Commission on Teacher Credentialing

  • Once you have obtained your permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), you must apply to the SMUSD substitute teaching pool through EdJoin. Only applicants with a valid permit will be considered.

  • The application typically opens every three months, or as needed, based on district substitute staffing needs.
