Thank you for your interest in the Independent Study Physical Education (ISPE) program.

We support and appreciate after-school activities and encourage students to participate in them. For the most part, however, outside sports do not replace our regular physical education class, which follows the K-12 California State Standards in Physical Education. Our program offers an introduction to diverse sporting activities within a cooperative environment, and we strongly encourage student participation in the on-campus physical education program at our middle and high schools.

The ISPE application form will be linked here in the middle of May. You can download and return it, along with all accompanying documents, to ryan.archer@smusd.org between June 1^st and June 30^th for the 2026-2027 school year.
