Budget Advisory Committee (BAC)
The San Marcos Unified School District Budget Advisory Committee (BAC) brings together parents, staff, community members, and District leaders to build shared understanding around the District’s budget, financial priorities, and fiscal challenges. Through collaboration, thoughtful discussion, and diverse perspectives, the committee helps inform the District’s budget planning process. Per Board Policy 3100, the Superintendent may appoint a Budget Advisory Committee to provide input and perspective on District fiscal matters.
Overview
The committee focuses on:
- Staffing & Programs: Reviewing workforce priorities and how spending aligns with educational goals.
- Core Operations: Considering essential district operations and how resources support students and staff.
- Transparency: Promoting clear communication of fiscal information and shared understanding of budget decisions.
- Long-Term Fiscal Health: Reviewing budgets and multi-year projections to support the District’s financial sustainability.

- 10 SMUSD parents
- 4 SMUSD staff members
- 4 cabinet members
- 4 administrators
- 2 union representatives
- 2 students
- 3 facilitators
